Problem: normal user has no rights for writing, solution: ( see http://www.fedoracorelinuxhcl.org/browse/product?id=4809 ) Works with gphotofs Requisites: gphotofs Usage (mounting): mkdir mount_point sudo gphotofs -o allow_other /path/to/mount_point Usage (unmounting): sudo umount /path/to/mount_point Done! --- I wrote 2 scripts (mount & umount) to make this a lot of easier. 1. to mount: #!/bin/sh gksudo 'gphotofs -o allow_other /media/Camera' nautilus /media/Camera/store_00010001/DCIM 2. to unmount: #!/bin/sh gksudo 'umount /media/Camera' ------------ ( http://simon.zilliken.name/index.php?/archives/3-Mounting-a-camera-as-file-system.html ) Mounting a camera as file system ========================= gphotofs is a FUSE filesystem that lets you mount any digital camera, as long as it's supported by libgphoto2, so you can browse the camera's memory in your favourite file manager. After plugging your camera in, mounting is as easy as gphotofs "mount point" e.g. mount /media/Camera fusermount -u "mount point". You must have permission to read and write the device. By default, devices recognized by libgphoto2 are created with read/write access for group "plugdev", so users must be added to this group to use GPhotoFS. Automating mount ============= However, since we've already played with udev, let's automate that. As root, run udevadm monitor --udev --environment and plug in your camera. Btw., note that the udev commands have been merged into the udevadm command, so udevinfo becomes udevadm info. For the udev rules, I picked the section corresponding to the device creation: UDEV [1235914576.701473] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb6/6-3/6-3.4/6-3.4.4 (usb) UDEV_LOG=7 ACTION=add DEVPATH=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb6/6-3/6-3.4/6-3.4.4 SUBSYSTEM=usb DEVTYPE=usb_device PRODUCT=4cb/19b/100 TYPE=0/0/0 BUSNUM=006 DEVNUM=019 SEQNUM=1261 DEVNAME=/dev/bus/usb/006/019 MAJOR=189 MINOR=658 DEVLINKS=/dev/char/189:658 Now, create /etc/udev/rules.d/80-camera-mount.rules, which contains rules for adding and removing the camera: ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{PRODUCT}=="4cb/19b/100", RUN+="/usr/local/bin/MountCamera.sh add" ACTION=="remove", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{PRODUCT}=="4cb/19b/100", RUN+="/usr/local/bin/MountCamera.sh remove" This makes udev run a mount script every time the camera is plugged or unplugged. My mount script is currently very simple and probably needs some sophistication, but it works: #! /bin/bash MOUNTPOINT="/media/camera" Mount() { # You need to add the allow_other option, otherwise only root can access the camera. gphotofs ${MOUNTPOINT} -o allow_other } Unmount() { fusermount -u ${MOUNTPOINT} } Usage() { echo "Usage: $0 [add|remove]" echo } case "$1" in add) Mount ;; remove) Unmount ;; *) Usage ;; esac -----------
